These substances are often used in packaged foods to extend shelf life, preserve quality, and maintain flavor. The analysis noted that individuals with higher exposure to these additives exhibited a greater likelihood of suffering from hypertension and cardiovascular conditions.

While experts caution that the presence of these ingredients does not inherently render a product harmful, the study reinforces the necessity of maintaining balanced eating habits. A diet dominated by highly processed foods, particularly when combined with other lifestyle factors, may elevate health risks. To mitigate these risks, experts advocate for the consumption of more whole foods, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and minimally processed meals.
